Remember LiLo and Sam, Sam and LiLo? The two went together like peanut butter and jelly. High school and hickies. The Office and 30 Rock.

Actually, we're totally kidding. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson absolutely never went well together. Their "relationship" was a series of drunken bar fights, Twitter feuds, and unnecessary drama.

Any sane person would leave it where it ended, but not these two. They're back for more. Now that LiLo is sober (thanks to that handy-dandy ankle bracelet), Sam wants to give her ex another shot.

“Sam couldn’t take Lindsay drinking anymore,” a source tells BettyConfidential exclusively of why they split. “It’s what ruined their friendship and their romance. Lindsay has never stopped loving Sam, but Sam couldn’t take her drunken stupors anymore. It got too out of hand and it wasn’t good for either of them to be in an abusive relationship like that."

But, now that Lindsay has to put down the bottle, Sam is having a change of heart.

"Sam still cares for Lindsay," says our source, "and now that Lindsay is staying sober, Sam is proud of her and knows they can at least talk without getting into any fights."

And that's exactly what they did the other night... they "talked." All. Night. Long.

"They spent the night talking recently – all night long – and they are on their way to mending their broken relationship," our source says. "It’s going to take more than one night of talking, but it’s a start. As long as Lindsay stays sober and healthy, Sam will be there for her through her sentencing."
