I was appalled when the story about Kim Cattrall "being drunk and calling out a gossip reporter" made the rounds on the Internet last week. I had the pleasure of interviewing Kim the same day as this reporter, and not only was I extremely impressed by the actress, but I left our intimate meeting with nothing but nice things to say about her. Not only is she gorgeous in person, but she's also soft-spoken, refined, incredibly smart, and one of the nicest celebrities I’ve met.

She’s a woman who would be appalled and offended, and rightfully so, to be asked about her bikini waxing habits while at the premiere for her new movie, Meet Monica Velour (in theaters tomorrow, April 8). Had this other reporter done her homework, she would’ve known that such juvenile questions would not fly with the real Kim Cattrall, who is so much more than her Sex and the City character, Samantha Jones.

The 54-year-old proved this during our interview – I felt as if I was talking to a genuinely good friend, who happened to be famous and impeccably dressed in Michael Kors. And yes, while we did cover her beauty habits (Kim is the proud new face of Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Advanced Anti-Aging Body Wash and Body Lotion) and her memories from Sex and the City, we also bonded and laughed over being single in New York and trying to channel our own sexy confidence. Here’s our conversation:

How did you discover Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Advanced Anti-Aging Body Wash and Body Lotion and what do you like about them?
"Olay has been in my family since I was five or six – that’s when I was tall enough to get up to my mother’s vanity, and there was Chanel No. 5 and Olay. When I was approached about the body wash, I hadn’t tried it. I’m a scrubber – I exfoliate every day and I have for a number of years. A lot of the washes that I tried were too oily or dry, but this moisturizing wash is terrific. It’s a great product and I use it every day... on my scalp, too. I put gloves on and use them in the shower – they’re great."

Your skin is beautiful! What products do you use on your face?
"Sun protection is number one. It’s very difficult for me because my skin tone on my face is different than on my body so it’s hard to get that to blend sometimes. But I have this Laura Mercier foundation that’s very easy. It doesn’t make me break out, and it has SPF in it. Then, I’ll use a highlighter. I don’t use lip liner ever. I just even out the peaks of my lips and I use mostly glosses. I do use a lot of blush, and a little contouring. I love mascara, and sometimes I’ll attach little fake lashes. I find that the older I get, the less makeup I use."

Do you work out everyday?
"I do when I'm not working, filming or doing a play, because you need every strand of stamina during those times. But, when I’m not working, I work out every day. Sometimes, I’ll just walk through Central Park or get on the treadmill for 15-20 minutes. I use kettlebells a lot – they’re great for your upper body and core. I use some bands as well on my legs. I put 3 pound weights on my ankles and 2 pounds weights on my hands when I workout, so whatever movement I do becomes harder and I don’t even have to think about it."

What about your eating habits?
"I drink a lot of liquids, a lot of water, and I try not to eat late at night. I try to make lunch my biggest meal and have dessert after, but not at dinner because it’s harder to take it off. That’s how I used to put on weight; I’d have a couple drinks and dessert after dinner. I don’t drink that much, but I like to have a glass of wine at lunch, and then coffee or tea."
