Did Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied Get Married In Secret? (UPDATED)
Are those wedding rings we spotted on Natalie Portman’s and Benjamin Millepied’s fingers at the Oscars?
Wild speculation time: Did Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied get secretly married sometime before the Oscars? Because, hey, look! Look what People found!
Do we spy with our little eye a couple of rings? Perhaps. People pointed out that during her Best Leading Actor presentation at the Oscars on Sunday, Natalie appeared to be wearing what might be a wedding ring (that’s her hand clutching the envelope on the right up there), while her fiancé, French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, also looked to have a band on his ring finger earlier in the night.
Naturally, Natalie’s rep is keeping mum on the comment front. The couple is, after all, notoriously quiet about their relationship. This is perhaps not surprising; besides the usual privacy issues that come with being celebrities in relationships, this one has the added drama of possibly having begun while Benjamin was still with his previous long-term girlfriend, dancer Isabella Boylston. Rumor has it that Benjamin and Natalie got together shortly after beginning work on Black Swan, at which point he may not have yet broken up with Isabella. Benjamin and Natalie later announced their engagement quietly in December of 2010, though Natalie was a little less quiet about it by the time awards season came around. Remember this little gem at the 1:50 mark from the Golden Globes that year?
Way to be subtle about it, Natalie.
Anyway, it’s all just speculation until we hear one way or the other from the couple itself. In all likelihood, though, it’s probably true; they’ve been engaged for over a year and their son, Aleph, was born in June, so with the first eight or nine months of parenthood behind them, now is as good a time as any to actually tie the knot.
What do you think, Bettys? Did Natalie and Benjamin have a super secret wedding ceremony some time ago, far away from the prying eyes of the public? Or is it just the media jumping to conclusions again?
UPDATED: According to a press release that just landed in our mailboxes here at BettyConfidential, those are, in fact, wedding rings! Like Natalie’s engagement rings, the eco-friendly wedding bands were designed by Jamie Wolf with recycled platinum and conflict-free diamonds. Still no confirmation from Natalie’s rep, though.
