Did Michael Fassbender Get Kicked Out of His Own Party?
Rumor has it that Michael Fassbender got kicked out of the after-party for his new movie, A Dangerous Method. But is it true? Well…
Because this seems like an appropriate sort of story for a Friday: Michael Fassbender was allegedly asked to leave the after-party for his new movie A Dangerous Method on Tuesday night… or was he? Well, let’s take a look, shall we?
The story first appeared in UK tabloid The Sun, which remarked that Michael’s co-stars Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen “looked a bit uncomfortable with his antics at plush restaurant 34, in London’s Mayfair.” A source told the Sun, “Michael was politely asked to leave. He was in good spirits but it was becoming a bit of a handful for the other guests.” How much of a handful? Well, according to the source, “he was grabbing his co-stars and waltzing around the room with them. He lit a cigarette indoors and that was the point it had gone too far.” Ah. I see. Waltzing is allowed, but smoking indoors is not.
The story subsequently got picked up by a whole bunch of outlets, including the New York Post, E! Online, the Winnpeg Free Press… you get the picture. However, like so many hilarious tales of celebrities behaving badly, it may unfortunately not be true. GQ editor Olivia Cole shot down the story on Twitter, first calling out Sun writer Gordon Smart for basically making stuff up:
And then continuing to lambast everyone else who published the story:
No word from Michael’s reps or the film’s studio about the evening; however, as far as we know, Michael did sail out of Mayfair via piggyback, so at least there’s that:
Looks like fun! Do you think if we asked nicely, we could get piggyback rides, too?
