-Diana Denza

Daisy Fuentes gained public acclaim as the first Latina VJ for MTV and continues to break ground in the fashion world. Currently, she helms a Kohl’s line that rakes in hundreds of millions in profits each year and is working hard to make her second 360 Style fashion show a huge success. We caught up with Fuentes about her fashion empire, her upcoming spring/summer 2013 line, and what should be in our closets right now.
Betty Confidential: What do you have planned next for your Kohl’s collection?
Daisy Fuentes: My Kohl’s line started very slowly, so I’m taking my time in terms of adding new categories and expanding. I want to make sure that our customers will love any new additions!
BC: How involved are you in the creative process?
DF: Everything creative goes through me. I have a great design team, one that I fully trust. But I’m directly involved in the DNA of the brand. I’m making decisions from the very beginning to when the items hit shelves.

BC: What were some of your design inspirations for your Fashion Week show on September 12, 2012?
DF: For the spring/summer 2013 show, my inspiration was the Spanish gypsy trend. It’s a combination of youthfulness and a hippie-chic attitude.
BC: What are your favorite pieces from the line?
DF: Definitely the maxi dresses. I love the paisley prints and rich, bold colors.
