And in today’s bizarrely hypocritical news, actor Doug Hutchison, A.K.A. Mr. Courtney “Child Bride” Stodden, has apparently pulled out of a movie because he was concerned about the sexual content attached to his role. What’s that saying about pots and kettles again?...

According to RadarOnline, Doug was set to star in The Genesis of Lincoln, a super meta adaptation of James Harrison Cathey’s book of the same title which posits that Abraham Lincoln was actually the bastard son of a North Carolina cattle rancher. Doug would have played a filmmaker named Drey LeBeck. Initially setting out to direct an adaptation of Cathey’s book, LeBeck instead finds himself falling into a “strange and scandalous relationship with the teenage pop star he casts as Lincoln’s mother” (or so says production company Lost Colony Entertainment). Doug, however, apparently just realized how closely that story mirrors his own life and dropped out of the film.

The Genesis of Lincoln’s writer/producer/director, Richard O’Sullivan, said, “I know it’s gonna [sic] surprise a lot of people to hear this, but Doug was legitimately concerned about some of the sexual content and how people might not be able to separate who is as a person from the character he was playing.” Um, you think? Bear in mind that this is coming from a man who married a 16-year-old at the age of 51. A 16-year-old who insists on shoving her breasts in everyone’s faces as frequently as possible. Is the message here that it’s okay to bang a teenager in real life, but not on film? Does this make ANY SENSE AT ALL?

No. No it does not.

…Maybe he decided that reality show he and his questionable bride are trying to get off the ground was a better career move?...

…Nope. Still doesn’t make any sense.

The sin of it is that I used to think Doug was a pretty good actor. He usually played characters I hated (The Green Mile, much?), but he did so well. Now, though? I’m kind of having trouble stomaching him. Shame, really.
