Come On. You KNOW You Want a Look at Miley Cyrus’ Engagement Ring.
As much as you might wish you didn’t, you totally do. So here: An up-close-and-personal look at the engagement ring Liam Hemsworth gave to Miley Cyrus.
Well, that was fast: We’ve barely had time to digest the knowledge that 19-year-old Miley Cyrus and 22-year-old Liam Hemsworth have gotten engaged, and already we’re getting all the details of the engagement ring (Thanks, People!). Looks like someone is trying to capitalize on the sensational news as much as possible. Could that someone be Miley and her somewhat flagging career? Probably.
Unsurprisingly, Liam had the ring designed especially for Miley. According to People, when he approached Neil “I Made Britney Spears’ Engagement Ring” Lane, he said that he wanted “something unusual,” as well as “something really beautiful and romantic” (isn’t that the kind of ring every guy who gets the ring specially designed wants?). What he got was this:
What we have here is a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring in a handcrafted, 18-karat gold setting complete with carved diamond floral motifs and an art nouveau pattern. Oh, and that diamond? It’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century. This, apparently, is what a paycheck from The Hunger Games will afford you.
Concerning the diamond, Lane told People, “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time, no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic,” the jeweler added.
The setting, however, is a little more modern. Said Lane, “It’s a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics. The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand.” Just like a good sparkler should.
Actually, the whole thing does sound pretty unusual, beautiful, and romantic. Liam? Ya done good, kid!
We still feel a little weird about the whole thing, though…
