Chic and Pretty: The Two Most Wearable Spring Fashion Trends
Update your wardrobe with a little “70s Chic” or “Pretty girl.” Spring is almost here!
Ok! As your Cyber Main Gay, I’m ready to weigh in on the trends you’ll want to consider when you’re updating your wardrobes for Spring/Summer 2011. I’ve seen the offerings at Fashion Week in NYC and all editorial available. So many options! Almost too many!
Now remember that when I speak about trends, I’m not referring to your foundational wardrobe, which consists of your favorite timeless pieces that are superb for your body type. Your jeans, perfect skirt or little black dresses that always work. You never want a season trend to takeover your closet. Consider these looks when planning a fashion update.
The first trend is referred to as ’70s Chic. Nothing scary like a mood ring or pet rock! There are many trends from that fabulous disco decade that should remain a memory! This trend draws from some of the decade’s most notorious scene makers: Think Studio 54, Andy Warhol and Bianca Jagger. The designer that embodied this fabulous “Born To Be Alive” spirit is the one and only Halston. The documentary Ultrasuede will give you a feel for this trend. Luckily actress and fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker has taken an executive role for Halston. She’s bringing back that chic heritage of the brand that looks wonderful on most body types.
The new take on graphic prints, maxi dresses, wide legs and show-stopping wedge shoes is a breath of fresh air from Jeggings and Boho blouses! Here’s the Look Book from Sonya Rykiel Spring 2011 to give you a visual flavor to consider before you shop. Petites should use caution with wide leg trousers and maxi lengths, while those of us who don’t want to accentuate our muffin tops should remember that large graphic prints call attention to problem areas. Use common sense when you’re in the dressing room!
