Guess who got engaged over the weekend? That’s right: The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson! Kelly’s boyfriend of one year, talent manager (and Reba McEntire’s stepson) Brandon Blackstock, popped the question on Saturday—and lucky us, we didn’t even have to wait to see the engagement ring!
Kelly showed off her shiny new sparkler to the world just two and a half hours after announcing her engagement on Twitter. She first made the announcement at about 2pm EST:
And then followed up it up with this message and the WhoSay shot seen above at around 4:30pm EST:
As Kelly stated, the ring is a yellow canary diamond surrounded by a whole bunch of tiny white diamonds. Brandon went to celebrity jewelry designer Johnathon Arndt to make the ring a reality; he even helped design it himself. Gorgeous, no? We’re particularly loving the canary diamond. Kelly isn’t the first star to sport a colorful engagement ring—Halle Berry’s fiancé, Olivier Martinez, went for an emerald for her instead of a white diamond, for example—but even so, we’re totally onboard with the trend.

Will Johnathon Arndt be the one to design their wedding bands as well? Kelly certainly hopes so—at the tail end of the message she sent out with her WhoSay photo, she added, “I can’t wait to make Brandon’s ring with Johnathon as well!”
