It’s hard to believe that the store everyone loves to shop at is turning 50! After all, it looks so young! Century 21 has seen hemlines go up, down and almost disappear. Looking over their decades of fashionality, I’d have to say the 2000s was a decade that rocked.
This was the first decade where it was cool to mix high and low end items. You could pile on different decades, look fab and walk out the door. The hard and fast rules of fashion disappeared. The only fashion rule that oversaw the 2000s was this: enjoy fashion and express yourself. You could wake up as a hipster, have lunch as a retro-chick, be an uber fashionista for dinner and an uptown girl for cocktails. Women could use fashion as a barometer of how they were feeling at the moment.

The best example of this fashion mashup is SATC’s Carrie Bradshaw’s closet. The show not only celebrated the joys of friendship, they celebrated the thrill of the ever expanding choices that women could make through their clothing. Women caught on and created fashion blogs where they could showcase their personal view and style.
Instead of being a slave to fashion, the 2000s taught us to create our own. Feel like being creative and don’t want to blow your fashion budget? Check out a Century 21 near you, or visit them online. Like Century 21 says, “Afford to look great any time.”
