Celebrity Beauty Secret Ingredient: Niacin
Feed your skin with this essential nutrient

You know you’re a child of the 80s if you remember those Yoo Hoo commercials where the little kids pop up and name the vitamins and minerals. For some bizarre reason, I still think of that when I come across a product that contains niacin in particular. But niacin is no longer reserved for those “Food Facts” labels, and it started appearing in skincare products a few years ago.
If there’s one thing Michelle Williams, Renee Zellweger, Marcia Cross, Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner, and Debra Messing all have in common, it’s gorgeous skin. And the one thing they all have in common is that they are fans of the NIA 24 and Canyon Ranch Your Transformation skincare lines, both of which feature niacin.
Niacin is an essential nutrient that plays a variety of roles in our bodies. It’s required for healthy circulation and the proper functioning of the nervous system while it lowers triglycerides and cholesterol and helps with the formation of stomach fluids and sex hormones (multivitamins for everyone!). In terms of the skin, niacin has been found to help bring blood (and the nutrients it contains) to the surface of the skin, and it’s extremely effective for improving the appearance of the rough texture, uneven pigment and wrinkles associated with sun damage.
