Rockin’ shorts, cute skirts, cool sandals… Hoorah! It’s finally summer! We here at BettyConfidential couldn’t be happier that the warm weather is finally here to stay. And you know what summer is great for? Driving with the windows down with classic rock blaring from the radio. And this, my friends, is why Rock of Ages is such a great summer movie. What could be better than a musical starring Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise (pictured above in all his tattooed glory), Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, and Catherine Zeta-Jones with a soundtrack entirely composed of ‘80s rock? Big hair, thrashing guitars… we’re totally ready for its release this Friday!
And so in honor of the occasion, we’ve assembled an ‘80s hair band playlist for you. All of these songs appear in the movie, so we figure we’d better brush up on the original versions first. Ready to rock out? 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4!
1. “Paradise City”
Original by: Guns N Roses, 1988
Rock of Ages version by: Tom Cruise
Perhaps because of the era in which I was a teenager, I will always associate this song with the movie Can’t Hardly Wait. Anyone else?

2. “Pour Some Sugar On Me”
Original by: Def Leppard, 1987
Rock of Ages version by: Tom Cruise
We introduced you to Tom Cruise’s version a month or so ago. Who’s got the sugar bowl ready?
3. “I Love Rock and Roll”
Original by: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, 1981
Rock of Ages version by: Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Julianne Hough
Fun fact: Joan Jett made a surprise appearance at a Foo Fighters concert I went to a few months ago. She’s definitely still got it!
