British politicians call for ban on airbrushing

TwiggyThe Liberal Democrats party is currently trying to ban airbrushing in advertisements that target young people ... but how will Hollywood survive such a dramatic movement??

British politicians want all images to, at the very least, include a message stating that Photoshopping took place - on the off chance that it isn't extremely obvious. Advertisements featuring Jessica Alba and supermodel Twiggy (pictured above) for Olay face cream were singled out by the group, who complained that both stars have been ridiculously airbrushed in the past.

"Today's unrealistic idea of what is beautiful means that young girls are under more pressure now than they were even five years ago," Jo Swinson, the MP for East Dunbartonshire, stated. "Airbrushing mean that adverts contain completely unattainable images that no one can live up to in real life."

We can just see the A-listers weeping into their La Prairie face cream as we speak. Adverts sans doctoring ... oh the horror! (Telegraph)
