Can Celeb Gossiper Perez Hilton Make Us Skinny?
Perez launches his very own diet and fitness website!
Formerly tubby gossip columnist Perez Hilton, who dropped 60 pounds, has started a fitness website to help others do the same—and, of course, to zing celebrities who show us just how ugly overeating can be.
Hilton (real name: Mario Lavanderia) is one of the most hated/loved gossip columnists in Hollywood, adorning his dishy site, www.perezhilton.com, with racy photos and super-enthusiastic headlines. Priest Does Reality Show! Danielle Staub’s Song Will Make Your Ears Cry!
Now he’s bringing all that verve to www.FitPerez.com, which he launched last week. True, the headlines are much more low-key and earnest: “Kelly Osbourne Promoting A Healthy Lifestyle” and “Talking Fitness with Bruno Mars.” But the exuberance is still there, with lines like “Rihanna’s red hair is fabulous, but it stands out too much!” And so’s the snarkiness: “She Doesn’t Look Like She Lost Fifty Pounds!”(And after seeing the photo of Kirstie Alley, we have to agree.)
The website is the latest in the growing Perez Hilton web business. In addition to his original website, he’s also got a fashion site: www.CocoPerez.com, and a cute-animal site, www.TeddyHilton.com, named after his dog.
“It’s an organic next step for me,” he said, according to The Associated Press.
Of course, most readers won’t be able to match Perez’s program of four trainers and daily workouts, the columnist says that the basics of healthier eating and regular exercise will help make his readers fit and healthy. Above all, he says, the site will be encouraging and positive as well “fun and sassy.” Which is exactly the way we’d like it, because dieting and losing weight are already grim enough.
