Beyonce’s Tumblr Is Supposedly Her Life Through Her Eyes… But Is It Really?
Beyonce started a Tumblr! So what’s she putting on it? Mostly… herself. Is it really through her eyes, then? Or is it through everyone else’s?
Guess what, y’all? Beyonce started a Tumblr! Perhaps unsurprisingly, it can be found at beyonce.tumblr.com. According to People, the big launch was the brand-new Beyonce.com; the Tumblr is a smaller offshoot of this new official site.
Mostly, it’s… pictures of Beyonce. This is perhaps unsurprising, as she seems to be going for a “window into my life” theme; if you click on the question mark in the (extremely minimalistic) menu to the left of the page, here’s what pops up:
That’s kind of neat, and I get it and all—but since all these pictures are OF Beyonce, that means that someone else had to have taken them. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that isn’t quite Bey’s life through her own eyes, is it? It’s her life through the eyes of other people. Here she is hanging out with her family:
And here she is snoozing in a hammock in a lovely tropical location:
She apparently moonlights as Spider-Man from time to time:
Oh, and then there’s this:
Of all of these images, the one that I dig the most is that last one—the stick “b” on the sand—because it looks like something Beyonce may have actually taken herself. That said, though, Beyonce fans will probably enjoy seeing all of these candids (even if some of them look sort of posed), and hey, maybe at some point we’ll start seeing more photos of Blue Ivy.
Clicking on the little arrow in the upper left-hand corner pulls out the main site’s menu, directing visitors to places they can find news, music, videos, the “Beyhive” official fan collective, concert information, and more. I am unclear as to why Bey has chosen to emblazon the site with her name upside down, but whatever. She’s Beyonce. She can write her name upside down if she wants to.
Not unrelated: How many of you out there in Bettyland think Blue Ivy is actually a doll?
