Best Buys on Kids’ Clothes Right Now

Stylish Looks, Less Cash

-Gail Gruber Siegel

artimg05520.jpgIt’s no news to us moms, raising children is expensive! As a mother of two (Chloe is 2, and Jordan is eight months), I know firsthand how bills for toys, diapers and nursery school stack up faster than the stock market is falling. Cutting back wherever--and whenever--you can, especially during these economic times, is wise. Lucky for us busy moms, when it comes to dressing our babies and toddlers, there are adorable--and affordable!--finds just one click away. Here are some of the best bargains around:

oldnavy.com
As a new mom who didn't know any better, I got my layette for Chloe at a fancy store in Chicago where solid Petit Bateau onesies cost almost $30 each. These short-sleeve bodysuits from Old Navy, which come in girl and boy colors, ring it at $4 each, and have the same perfect fit and super-soft feel.

The minute I found out I was having a boy, I immediately pictured him in Mini-Me versions of his daddy's Ralph Lauren polos. Well, I still love the idea of Jordan matching my husband, Aaron, but not at $50 a pop. This rugby set by Okie-Dokie duo includes a top and khaki shorts and is even on sale for $13!

This Faded Glory smocked dress, which comes in infant and toddler sizes, reminds me of a Juicy Couture dress I have in my own closet. The only difference? The price. This one rings it an under $7--including shipping!

target.com
The store that got me excited to move from NYC to the suburbs doesn't disappoint with its website either. It has 185 pairs of shoes for toddler girls and boys -all under $24!

kohls.com
Jeans are as essential to a little boy's wardrobe as Thomas the Train is to his playroom. With 14 pairs to chose from, ranging from fit to wash, and even a denim Fit & Style guide, Kohl's is truly a one-stop shop
