Behold: Oprah Winfrey’s Hair In Its Natural State
In the September 2012 “makeover issue” of O Magazine, Oprah Winfrey let her hair go au naturel. Get a load of it here!
Our girl Oprah Winfrey is known for looking perfectly coiffed pretty much all the time. But although the media maven’s hair has gone through many a transformation over the years, we’re mostly used to seeing her with her ‘do straightened and without a hair out of place. Am I right?
Not anymore! For the September 2012 “makeover issue” Of O Magazine, Oprah is appearing on the cover without blow-drying or straightening her hair—for the first time ever! According to the issue’s teaser on Oprah’s website, she often wears her hair naturally on weekends and on vacation; she says it makes her feel “unencumbered.” We feel you, Oprah—and we love the full, curly look you’re rocking here!
Apparently, though, once upon a time, she harbored the desire to chop everything and go for a close-cropped look like the one sported by Camille Cosby:
However, Camille’s hubby (Bill Cosby, of course!) convinced her otherwise: “’Don’t do it,’ he said. ‘You’ve got the wrong head shape and you’ll disappoint yourself.’ I took his advice,” Oprah said.
Oprah is a big believer in the power of a haircut to change one’s view of oneself; furthermore, she notes that makeovers can only sustain themselves when “something inside the receiver clicks, aliging with that which is being received. The only way to real transformation,” she adds, “is through the mind.”
Be sure to catch more in the September 2012 issue of O Magazine, on newsstands now. And while you’re at it, why not check out this nifty gallery of Oprah’s hair evolution through the years? You can see what she looked like from 2 years old all the up through today!
Keep on keepin’ on, Oprah!
