We’ve all been there: After much trial and error, you finally find the perfect shampoo for your hair type or just the right moisturizer for your finicky skin. Hallelujah! Finally, someone understands your difficult beauty needs! But then—tragedy strikes! That perfect product gets discontinued. Whatever are you going to do now? Tragedy!

But don’t worry, Bettys! Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has your back with their Retro line of re-released discontinued products, only available online. And lucky me, I got to give four of these beauties a road test: Lush’s Washday Greens Shampoo ($9.95 for 3.3 oz., lushusa.com), Pineapple Grunt Soap ($6.95, lushusa.com), Slammer Shower Gel ($9.95 for 3.3 oz., lushusa.com), and Potion Body Lotion ($18.95 for 8.8 oz., lushusa.com). It’s almost as good as having a time machine!

I missed out on all of these products the first time around, so I was pleased as punch to be able to give them a try this time. First up: Shower time. I don’t know about you, Bettys, but no matter how good care I take of my hair, sometimes, it just starts getting a little dull and lifeless. That’s where Lush’s Washday Greens Shampoo comes in. A good lather with this clarifying shampoo perked my locks right up! The shampoo uses chlorophyll—yes, the stuff that makes plants green—to balance oil production while bay leaf tones the scalp. A jolt of fresh peppermint and spearmint give your hair healthy body and bounce—and the minty scent will wake your nose right up, too! Clarifying shampoos tend to dry my mane out if I use them too frequently, so I limited my use of the Washday Greens shampoo to once or twice a week, which was plenty to keep my hair squeaky clean and buildup-free.

Next: A good scrub-down. On days where I was already feeling wide awake, I used the Pineapple Grunt Soap to lather up. With its chunks of real pineapple, this soap smells good enough to eat; and even better, the natural alpha hydroxyl acid contained in the fruit works wonders in the cleansing department. Who knew that a pineapple could get you so clean? Bonus: It’s vegan, too!

If, however, I was having one of those days where no matter how much coffee I drank, I still felt kind of dragged out, I went for the Slammer Shower Gel. Designed to slam you awake in the nicest way possible, this shower gel uses lime oil and lemon peel to pep you up. Sea salt gives your skin a good work-out, and honey helps calm everything back down. Are you awake yet? I certainly am!

Finally, it’s time for that last all-important step: Moisturizing. Lush’s Potion Body Lotion is so named for the magical effect it has on your skin. Almond oil and cocoa butter soothe dry skin, while the scent of rose petals, tangerines, and carnations give your nose something to look forward to. It’s especially good on sunburned skin. Who needs aloe vera when you’ve got some of this stuff on hand? And like the Pineapple Grunt Soap, Potion Body Lotion is vegan. Awesome.

Note that with the exception of the Pineapple Grunt Soap, all of these fab products have a more herby scent than fruity or floral, so if that’s not your thing, you may want to steer clear. If you dig those kinds of scents like I do, though, fire away! Lush’s Retro line is only available online, but there are loads and loads of old favorites to choose from, so hurry on over to lushusa.com and snap yours up, stat—and never be without your favorites again!
