Barbie’s Running for President! And She’s Dressed by Chris Benz
Barbie threw her pink hat in the ring. Will she win?
Yesterday morning, reporters from all over gathered at the Campbell Apartment in New York City’s Grand Central Station for a very special announcement. Dressed head-to-toe in a pink Chris Benz ensemble (including pink wedges by Chris Benz), Barbie announced that as the leader of the B Party, she was running for president.
The Barbie® I Can Be…™ President doll is standing on her own two feet. Unlike Barbies in the past, this Barbie’s pink wedges have stabilized her legs, so she can stand tall and walk proud! Chris Benz is an CFDA award winner and her pink outfit (seen below with Chris) consists of a pink pencil skirt suit that’s trimmed in red, white and blue ruffles. It’s accessorized by her B Party campaign pin and of course, pearls.
Now, we realize that you may be saying to yourself, “what the heck is the B Party??” The B Party and its campaign platform is a call for girls (women) of all ages to “B inspired,” “B informed,” and “B involved.” You may not know this, but Barbie’s had over 130 careers in 50 years and if anyone knows what’s going on in the workplace, it’s Barbie! Seriously, though Barbie has partnered with the White House Project,a national, non partisan non profit women’s leadership development organization. They’ll be her campaign advisor. At their annual awards gala in November, one smart and clever girl will be presented with the Barbie® I Can Be™ Award” and the two (Barbie and the WHP) will be part of the “Take Your Daughters to the Polls” movement in November.
If you’re jonesing for your own The Barbie® I Can Be…™ President doll, it’s only $13.99 and you can pre-order it now at mattelshop.com, or wait till it hits the stores nationwide in June. The President Barbie doll is available in four versions: Caucasian, African American, Asian and Hispanic ethnicities.
