Are You Getting Enough Sleep?
A new study finds that 35 percent of Americans are sleeping less than 7 hours a night.
Yawning. Bags under your eyes. Zero energy. There are a lot of downsides to not getting enough sleep, and we all know them pretty well. But apparently, that doesn’t motivate us to improve our sleeping habits.
According to a new study conducted by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention of 74,571 adults in 12 different states, 35 percent of Americans sleep less than 7 hours a night (the National Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours).
Of those studied, single or divorced people were more likely to sleep less than couples, and 38 percent admitted to falling asleep by accident within the past 30 days. Sound familiar?
Since next week is National Sleep Awareness Week, we’ll be offering some tips for the tired Bettys out there who could use a good night’s rest. (Newser)
