Remember back at the end of July when Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler broke Kristin Cavallari’s heart by abruptly calling off their engagement? Yeah, me too. But guess what? They may have just gotten reengaged. Awesome idea? Or really, really terrible one?

Life & Style reported yesterday that Jay had proposed for a second time and that Kristin had accepted. According to a mystery source, “Kristin is over the moon with happiness. She’s already told her friends that the engagement is back on. They haven’t set a new date yet.”

It’s anyone’s guess why they broke up in the first place, though the fact that Kristin makes her living as a reality star probably had something to do with it. Life & Style claims that Jay broke it off because Kristin put a work commitment before plans with him, but this is Life & Style we’re talking about here, so you might want to take that one with a game of salt. They’re also claiming that the pair “rekindled their romance” during Kristin’s stint on Dancing With The Stars this past September.

Reality star… athlete… whirlwind romance… Hmmm. This sounds familiar. Does anyone sense another Kardashian-style debacle in the works here?

Of course, we can also hope that because Kristin isn’t as high-profile a celeb as Kim Kardashian that maybe she’ll have a little more sense than Kimmy as well. In fact, this reengagement rumor may be just that: A rumor. Kristin herself took to Twitter after the “news” started making the rounds and sent out the following Tweet:

So either she’s trying to cover up the new engagement until it can be announced with the appropriate fanfare, or she’s just refuting an unfounded rumor. I’m going to go with Occam’s razor here and assume it’s the latter—which, in a weird way, is sort of a comforting thought.
