Anna Paquin Says Opening Up About Her Sexuality Was No Big Deal

The True Blood actress said her PSA was no surprise to friends and family.

Many True Blood fans were shocked when actress Anna Paquin, who is engaged to costar Stephen Moyer, declared that she is bisexual in a public service announcement for the “Give a Damn” campaign earlier this year. Yet the actress said she’d never hidden anything.

“It wasn't like it was a big secret. It was just a cause I cared about and privately supported but not one that I had ever had an opportunity to speak out about in a way that would be useful,” she told Zap2it’s Dish Rag.

Though she said she doesn’t like to discuss her personal life, she felt the “Give a Damn” campaign was a worthy cause.

“Obviously, as someone who identifies as bisexual, those are issues I really care about – and frankly, I don’t see why everyone doesn’t care about them,” she said. “When I was asked to participate in that PSA, it was just an obvious, 'Well, of course I will.’” (People)
