Alexis Bellino, Betsey Johnson + More Show Off Their Designs at LA Fashion Weekend
Designers including Romeo & Juliet Couture and Lizzie Parker from ‘Fashion Star’ ruled the runway with flirty, sassy collections to die for!
Three nights of glitz, glamour, and gorgeous models can only mean one thing: LA Fashion Weekend is back and bringing on the haute couture like never before! Held at Sunset Gower Studios from March 16th-18th, fashion weekend designer favorites mixed with reality star newcomers to show off their jaw-dropping and ultra-glam Fall/Winter 2012 collections.
“We have a packed house tonight- I’ve never been so grateful to have so many amazing people here!” founder of LA Fashion Weekend Mikey Koffman gushed to an enthusiastic full house Friday right before Betsey Johnson kicked off the show.
Betsey rocked the opening with her signature rock ‘n roll looks including flouncy dresses in electric pink, bold striped tops, and lace stockings. Vilorija by Jelena Vujanovic followed up with skintight, short black dresses loaded with studs and glittering embellishments while designer Dina Bar-EL showed off old school Hollywood elegance with off the shoulder emerald dresses and full length gowns in ivory and ruby red.
For the second year in a row, local Los Angeles news station and sponsor KTLA filmed live for Sunday’s show, with news reporter David Begnaud and Koffman bantering on stage good naturedly. “We filmed last year and it was such a success we decided let’s do it again this year!” Begnaud said to a thunderous roar of applause. Before the styles hit the runway though, we were in for a surprise treat- a colorful performance from LA’s very own musical duo Hi Fashion!
Reality TV stars lit up the catwalk for Sunday’s live show including Real Housewives of Orange County star Alexis Bellino’s line Alexis by Tal Sheyn which featured gorgeous, gauzy dresses in silver, blue, and gold dazzling with beaded glitter details.
Lizzie Parker, a contestant from NBC’s Fashion Star debuted her fall/winter collection that lived up to her “make the sidewalk the catwalk” motto with tailored and comfortable dresses sure to flatter every figure. Romeo & Juliet Couture wrapped up the night with their Gossip Girl inspired line. The looks were right on the money with the characters- harem pants and sequined miniskirts perfect for Serena’s globetrotting style and structured blazers with brightly colored tights that Blair would swoon over! The audience got one more round of that infamous xoxo Gossip Girl love as the models came out once more, getting high-fived by Mikey and David before exiting the runway.
Just as TV station KTLA mentioned early on in the night, if you want to stand out like a star, there’s no better place to shine than at LA Fashion Weekend!
