Now that Jennifer Aniston is telling close friends that she’s dating Gerard Butler again, the actress’s best buddy, Courteney Cox, is worried her pal’s going to get her heart broken one more time. “She’s behind Jennifer 100 percent in whomever she wants to date but she’s looking out for her and wants to make sure she doesn’t get crushed,” a source tells Betty Confidential. “Jennifer has a habit of falling for the wrong man.”

Singer John Mayer was definitely the wrong man for Jen. He broke up with the actress after an on/again off/again relationship of almost a year and then dissed her to the press. And Courteney is worried that Gerard may be more bad news for Jen. “She tends to get too serious, too soon,” says the source. “And that’s what happened the first time she and Gerard started dating. Luckily, they remained friends and are trying again.”

Rumors of a romance first spread when the two were filming the comedy The Bounty Hunter together last summer. “He’s just fun,” Jen said about Gerard at the time. “He’s a guy’s guy but he’s absolutely the most lovely and sort of self-deprecating person and just what you see is what you get.” Then in January, the co-stars got close at the Golden Globes awards, where they shared lots of laughs and reportedly a kiss too. A few days before her 41st birthday, Jen flew the Scottish actor in to celebrate at the One & Only Palmilla resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, where the pair was inseparable.
