Avatar may have exceeded the $50 million mark this past weekend, but that doesn't mean everyone is in favor of the big-budget blockbuster.

The Vatican newspaper is criticizing action-packed flick Avatar for supposedly promoting the worship of nature over religion.

L'Osservatore Romano thinks it “gets bogged down by a spiritualism linked to the worship of nature” while Vatican Radio says the movie “cleverly winks at all those pseudo-doctrines that turn ecology into the religion of the millennium."
