Will Elena choose Damon over Stefan? That and other mysteries may be solved on Vampire Diaries when show returns on January 21. BettyConfidential was there when Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder and the show’s executive producer and writer Kevin Williamson gathered for the Television Critics Association press tour in L.A.

Getting right to the point, we can reveal that a breathtaking kiss will happen between bad boy vampire Damon (played by Ian) and Nina (a.k.a. Elena). But there’s a twist. It’s the character of Katherine (who Nina also portrays) who’s locking lips with Damon. But will sparks also fly between Damon and Elena? “It’s not a love triangle with only two people,” Nina joked.

We asked Nina who was the better kisser, Paul or Ian, and she was a little coy, calling both of her leading men “incredible” and “very charismatic.” “I can’t grade them,” she said. “They’re different.”

But Ian was more forthcoming, declaring, “Of course, it’s Damon, who else?”

In real life the actors have become fast friends, hanging out on the set in Atlanta and texting and calling constantly when they’re not. “We’re always calling each other,” Ian told us. “After work, still texting.”

Elena is not becoming a vampire — at least not this season. “It’s fake,” says executive producer/writer Julie Plec of the imdb.com storyline that has caused a lot of speculation on message boards.
