On Thursday afternoon we were shocked and dismayed to learn that Oprah planned to scarp her legendary talk show in 2011 (luckily there’s one more year).

During Friday’s episode she spoke candidly to her loyal audience, explaining how after months of careful consideration she ultimately decided that the 25th season of the Oprah Winfrey Show would be her last.

"You have all invited me into your lives," she said, choking back tears. "We've grown together. I want you all to know that my relationship with you is one that I hold very dear. Your trust in me, your sharing your precious time with me . . . has brought me the greatest joy that I have ever known."

She added: "25 years feels right in my bones and my spirit. It's the perfect number, the exact right time." (Us Magazine)
