The Christina School District in Newark, Del., has ordered first grader Zachary Christie to spend 45 days at the district’s reform school for wanting to use a camping tool at lunch.

The 6-year-old had recently become a Cub Scout and was therefore given a utensil that serves as a spoon, a fork and a knife. Unfortunately the poor boy didn’t realize that the gadget went against the school’s zero-tolerance policy on weapons (seeing as he’s only six!)

Now Zachary’s parents are fighting tooth and nail to overturn the unreasonable ruling. "Zachary wears a suit and tie some days to school by his own choice because he takes school so seriously," his mother, Debbie Christie, told the New York Times. "He is not some sort of threat to his classmates."

The school says that it “does not take into consideration a child’s age in a Level three offense,” and as a result of this Zachary has been suspended.

Last week the boy’s karate instructor and his mother’s fiancé met with the school disciplinary committee, and Zachary’s mom has even put together a Web site to help attract support before a second meeting takes place on Tuesday. (FOXNews.com)
