As we reported yesterday, Michael Jackson’s latest single, This Is It, hit the airwaves and web on Sunday; however while it may have been a previously unheard track by Jackson, the song isn’t new, says a report by CNN.
In fact, the song was co-written and recorded in 1983 with singer-songwriter Paul Anka for his album, Walk a Fine Line, but was never finished as Jackson became too busy at that point with the success of his Thriller album.
Studio producers however completed it by adding vocals from Jackson’s brothers and orchestration to round out the song.
"Somebody just innocently found this tape and did not know somebody recorded it with him," Anka said, adding that it was a coincidence that the song’s first words were the same as the name for Jackson’s last planned tour.
Both the orchestrated version and the Jackson and Anka original will be featured on the two-disc soundtrack that will accompany the documentary Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which will be released on October 27. (CNN)
