Attention: multitaskers. Simultaneously writing, talking, and texting could be harming your brain. And according to new research, multitasking doesn’t make you any more efficient – in fact, it makes you worse.
“When you’re pushing yourself to perform two or more tasks, especially complicated tasks, it’s not beneficial. It’s extremely inefficient,” said a researcher to the Boston Globe.
Even practice doesn’t make multitasking any easier or better for you. Subjects in the study who constantly multitasked were actually more distracted than their peers because, according to researchers, they couldn’t help thinking about the tasks that they weren’t doing. (Newser)
