Remember how Linus from the Peanuts cartoons used to wait around every year for the Great Pumpkin? Well somebody get that boy on the horn and tell him that the wait is officially over!

On Monday Christy Harp of Jackson Township, Ohio showed off her 1,725-pound squash to an astounded Today crowd. The massive pumpkin earned her first prize at the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers competition earlier this month. What’s more, she can now brag that she has created the heaviest pumpkin in recorded history (Steve Connolly of Sharon, Mass. produced a 1,689-pound pumpkin last growing season).

So how did Christy and her hubby Nick pull it off you ask?

“We did this with a lot of hard work and a lot of compost and a lot of water; no chemical fertilizers,” she said of the process she and her husband worked out. “We try to keep everything natural, so we’re out there composting coffee grounds, cow manure, leaves.”

Well their hard work certainly paid off, look at the size of that thing!(msnbc.com)
