Betty on the News: French Scientology Chapter Guilty of Fraud
What will all of Hollywood have to say about this?
-Carolyn French

On Tuesday BettyConfidential learned that Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis opted to quit Scientology due to the Church’s decision to support Proposition 8 in California, which bans gay marriage.
Now the religious order is facing a $900,000 fine after being convicted of fraud in Paris, France on Tuesday morning.
Scientology leaders in France allegedly pressured members of the congregation to cough up large amounts of cash for “questionable financial gain,” and also used “commercial harassment” against newcomers. Because of this the French chapter is having to fork over the money.
Strangely, the Church was not forced to disband, even though the prosecutor maintained that it should. (PerezHilton.com)
