The Perfect Little Black Dress for You

No matter what your shape or size, we’ve found the perfect little black dress.

The holidays are right around the corner, and these next few months tend to bring party after party after party. But don't worry – BettyConfidential’s got you covered! We’ve looked to our leading fashion ladies of all shapes and sizes for inspiration for our no-fear guide to that perennial classic — the Little Black Dress. And just like out favorite celebs, these LBDs offer something for everyone.

Curvy

Curvy ladies have classic womanly proportions — larger busts and hips with slender limbs and a narrow waist. A timeless and sexy body type, embrace it as Kim Kardashian does.

What To Look For
- A dress that has a slight hourglass shape similar to your body — slim in the middle with a flare at top and bottom — will be the most flattering.
- Styles that cinch in at the waist will draw attention to the slimmest part of your body, while tastefully emphasizing your curve appeal.

What To Avoid
- Steer clear of low-cut tops, too-short hems and very body-conscious silhouettes. Your body type is already super-sexy, so a skintight cut can be over the top.

Kim (above) is wearing a super affordable dress from Bebe — it's just $129! Pick up the same one for yourself!

Boyish

Women with this body type tend to be long and lean, with a small bust and narrow hips. Like True Blood's Anna Paquin and fashion models the world over, you can afford to take fashion risks.

What To Look For
- Because your curves are minimal, they won't get in the way of the cut of a dress, so most styles will look perfect on you.
- Look for sexier styles that emphasize your feminine side — rather than being immodest, a little bit of sex appeal will look tasteful on your straight and narrow frame.

What To Avoid
- Styles that hide your waist, like empire cuts, will add unnecessary bulk to your frame.

Anna Paquin LBD

Star Style
Anna Paquin's Herve Leroux number (above) hugs in all the right places to show off her slender but feminine frame. Copy her cute look with this $48 dress from Urban Outfitters.

Busty

Ladies who carry their curves on top, with narrow hips and slender limbs, fall into this type. Celebrate your shape while balancing out your body like fashion fave Blake Lively.

What To Look For
- A peplum-style dress is fitted through the top but it flares out at the waist and provides better symmetry from your shoulders to your hips.
- A long-sleeve mini style like Blake's also helps draw attention down to the rest of your body.

What To Avoid
- Stay away from thick knits that will only add bulk, and anything too clingy around the waist and hips, which will emphasize disproportion. And anything that’s too tight on the bust will compress your curves and make you look boxy.

Blake Lively LBD

Star Style
Blake's dress (above) is from Victoria Beckham’s 2010 collection, but you can buy this $135 version from Topshop for a song — and it will still hit all the right notes.

Tagline doesn't quite work as only three body shapes are covered - none of which apply to me. :/

For some reason, I'm not a fan of any of these.
