The New York Post makes a very interesting observation today: in the past 12 years, almost every leading lady that has won the Oscar for best actress has split from her significant other.

This year, we're seeing it with Kate Winslet, who is divorcing her husband, Sam Mendes. And, best actress winner Sandra Bullock is having marital problems as well, as rumors are flying that her husband Jesse James has been unfaithful.

Helen Mirren and Marion Cotillard seem to be the only two actresses who are the exception to the rule by remaining with their significant others post-Oscar win. But the rest, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Hilary Swank, Reese Witherspoon, were victims of "the Oscar curse" and ended their relationships soon after receiving their golden statue.
