Want a husband? Forget bars, forget church. Get yourself online!
According to a study of more than 11,000 people released by Match.com last week, one in six marriages are now between folks who met online. (Or, as the New York Times so quaintly put it in a wedding announcement last Sunday, “The couple were introduced in 2007 through Match.com.”
The top way to meet your spouse is still through work or school, followed by an introduction from a friend or family member. But online dating has just snagged third prize when it comes to marriage matchmaking – beating out bars, clubs, social events, church and the “other” category. (Which I take to mean the feral cat who brings home stray men for me.)

Whether you want to amen this study or drown it in a beer, there’s no denying that the path to the altar now begins at your computer monitor.
This news isn’t exactly earth shattering. Still, women constantly ask me where / how / when to meet men. I’m telling you – begging you – set up an online dating profile already! I’ve tried a million dating sites for my job as a dating columnist. Some are amazing. Some are putrid dungeons of despair. But I promise you, if you keep trying, you’ll find one that works for you … and smells pretty.
