With Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson a (not-so) secret item, and True Blood’s Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer engaged off-screen, it’s hard to believe there’s no coupling up on the equally steamy set of The Vampire Diaries. But Sara Canning, who plays Jenna, the cool, but sometimes-clueless guardian, tells BettyConfidential that she’s not actually tempted to get together with any of her hot co-stars. “The guys are nice, smart, and easy on the eyes, but they’re family to me!” swears Sara, 22, who has never even dated another actor. The Canadian, who now calls Atlanta home thanks to filming the show there, would rather just go to dinner and play pool with the likes of Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig and Matt Davis. Right now, Jenna is oblivious to all the vampire stuff going on. Will she find out about everyone's secrets soon?
I think that Jenna’s getting closer to the realization that all is not as it seems in Mystic Falls. She’s perceptive. Though her life is very hectic, she also has a large awareness of how her niece and nephew are dealing with what’s going on in their lives. I’d love to see how she deals with the knowledge that they’re hanging out with vampires and a witch after school.

Do you have any vampire envy?
I think it would be a blast to play a vampire. To me, the most fascinating thing about humans being turned into vampires is that everyone deals with it differently. Will they be volatile, righteous, conniving? I have a lot to play with already when it comes to Jenna’s character arc, but it would be interesting to see where she’d fit in on the supernatural side of things.

Jenna's been keeping her own secret about Elena (Nina Dobrev) being adopted. What more can you tell us about that storyline?
Jenna is definitely entering a phase she wasn’t necessarily expecting. She’s now dealing with telling Elena a secret Elena’s own mother kept for seventeen years. That reveal will come with repercussions, and many new plot twists will stem from it. As for Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Elena, I think it will allow them to connect in new ways over the next few episodes.
