The wait is finally over! 90210 returns tonight (8 p.m. EST on the CW) with new episodes. To celebrate, Betty Confidential caught up with Matt Lanter, who has stolen our hearts as brooding bad boy Liam. The 26-year-old promises more drama and catfights are on the way — “You can’t count anything out in this zip code!” — and reveals his character will be getting a sexy surprise from Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord).

Unlike his troubled character, this University of Georgia grad — and former bat boy for the Atlanta Braves — is much happier hitting the beach than someone’s face. “Liam takes out his aggression in violent ways, which isn’t how I roll,” says Matt.  “I’m easygoing and it takes a lot to get me angry. But I think Liam and I both have good hearts.”

When we last saw the show, things were heating back up with Liam and Naomi. Is Ivy (Gillian Zinser) really going to be cool with losing Liam to her nemesis?
Oh no, more drama is definitely on the way. Ivy and Naomi get in a pretty good brawl over Liam.

There have been a lot of breakups on the show. Which couple are you rooting for to get back together?
Well, obviously I’m biased, but I think Liam and Naomi could make a great couple. People say opposites attract and I think they could learn from each other.

What advice would you give Liam about girls?
I would say that high school relationships usually don’t matter five years down the road. Ask yourself if all the drama is worth it, because it’s probably not going to be of any importance a few years from now… or even months.

Who have you gotten closest to on the set?
I’ve gotten close with most of the cast.  We’re always in Tristan [Wild]’s trailer listening to music or eating lunch together. But I hang with Michael Steger [Navid] and Jessica Lowndes [Adrianna] most off set.
