Loser

Rex Roland, a sixth grade teacher at Enka Middle School in Candler, North Carolina, has been writing the word 'loser' on his students’ assignments in an effort to relate to them through humor.

However, the put-down has angered Patty Clement, a parent who believes this teaching method is harming her daughter and has started a petition to have Roland suspended after a 12-year teaching career.

Other parents disagree. "A lot of the students he has are academically gifted students,” says another parent, Kathy Andrews. “So one of the ways that he would joke with them would be if they scored a 110, he always gave extra credit, so if they scored a 110, 120 on a paper, he would have a joke on it – 'loser'. That's what he engages in ... he gets on their level and their words and tries to relate to them.”

The school district is investigating the matter, and Roland has apologized, but Clement says she is determined to not stop fighting until the teacher is gone for good. (AOL News)

There are worse things, but I still think what this teacher was doing is a bad idea.
