A savory alternative to Italian meatballs

We're mostly used to meatballs in tomato sauce, but another popular way Italians serve them is in a savory sweet and sour sauce. This is a delicious dinner if you add crusty bread followed by a crisp summer salad.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 egg
1 tablespoon pine nuts, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon raisins
8 amaretto cookies or 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, softened with milk
1 tablespoon pistachios, chopped
cinnamon
salt and pepper
extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
Directions:
Mix in a bowl the ground meat, egg, pine nuts, raisins, pistachios, and a pinch of salt, pepper and cinnamon. Shape into small meatballs. Fry in a little olive oil, and when they are cooked through, pour on the sugar and vinegar. Stir until the vinegar has completely evaporated and serve.
