Olympic hotshot Lindsey Vonn won her third straight overall World Cup title Friday, making her the most accomplished skier the U.S. has ever had.

The unstoppable athlete now has a total of 33 World Cup wins thanks to her victory today in the super-G at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

“I’m so happy; I’m ecstatic,” Vonn later said. “It’s been an amazing season — and definitely a long season — but having the overall title means the world to me. If you had asked me at the beginning of the season if I’d have been able to do all this, I would have said ‘not likely.’ It takes a lot of hard work, not only by me but the whole team and all the many people who help me.”

Lindsey has decided to skip Saturday’s slalom because her body “is broken.” We don’t blame her for wanting to sit that one out! (The New York Times)
