Sarah Palin Blasts 'Family Guy' Over Down Syndrome Joke

Sarah Palin was more than a little disgruntled Sunday evening after watching an episode of Family Guy that seemed to poke fun at the former vice presidential candidate’s Down syndrome son Trig.

A mentally handicapped character had said “My dad's an accountant, and my mom's the former governor of Alaska" during the controversial installment of the hit series.

On Tuesday Palin posted a note on her Facebook saying that the episode felt "like another kick in the gut", and later released her daughter Britol’s response to the debate.

"Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday [Sunday], they failed,” Bristol declared. “All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks."

That is what Family Guy does. If you are in the public eye, you will get focused on. They make fun of everything and everyone - it is part of the reason the show is still on. If she doesn't want her family to be poked fun of, she needs to take her idiotic self out of the public eye - she's a full on moron.

Its one thing to make fun of a group of people in general but to single out one person like that is out of line. I dont care if you dont like sarah palin (@ #1) her son has done nothing in the 'public eye.' And that might be the most ridiculous reasoning that i have ever heard, "like did you hear john travolta's son died? yeah he like had seizures and stuff - what a retard - hahahahaha" - well john travolta shouldnt be in the public eye if he didnt want his dead son to made fun of. That makes perfect sense. And Family Guy hasnt been funny for like 3 years especially how south park clowned it so hard

I didn't see the episode so I don't have the context, but I don't really see how that comment (in isolation) is making fun of the kid. She does have a special needs son right? So...the special needs guy says his mom is Palin. How is that making fun of him - or special needs people - in any way?

Although I imagine the rest of the episode did that quite well, that's what they do after all.

I saw the episode, and the Palin comment was pretty funny. Everyone has something about themselves that can be made fun of, and Family Guy is good about pointing those things out. I would be honored if I was poked fun of on that show.
