Sacha Baron Cohen’s Sketch Cut from Oscars Because of James Cameron
The comedic actor was supposed to do an Avatar sketch, but producers feel it would hurt James Cameron’s feelings.

Sacha Baron Cohen was supposed to be attending the Oscars this Sunday night as a presenter, but now he is no longer going. The reason why? “Creative differences” over his sketch about Avatar.
Cohen was planning to do a funny sketch about the blockbuster hit, in which he dressed up as a blue female Na’vi and had Ben Stiller translate what he was saying. Cohen would reveal that “she” was pregnant with director James Cameron’s baby, and the sketch would include a confrontation with the director.

However, since Cameron isn’t known as being a “self-deprecating” guy, says a source, Academy Awards producer Bill Mechanic has made the decision to cut the sketch from the show. He doesn’t feel that Cameron will be amused by the joke, and doesn’t want to offend the highest-paid director in the business.
So sadly, Sacha Baron Cohen’s part in the Oscars has been cut, and he feels no need to make the trip from London now for the show. (New York Magazine)
