She’s been dodging pregnancy rumors and denying reports that she’s engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Javier Bardem, but insiders tell BettyConfidential that Penelope Cruz is ready to be a mom and is planning to adopt a child very soon.
And the Nine actress has some high-powered moms guiding her — her pals Salma Hayek and Madonna are advising Penelope on the joys of motherhood.
Back in 2007 she told Spanish Marie Claire that she wanted to be a mom: "I want to have my own kids, but also adopt,” Penelope said. “For a while I've had the feeling that my life won't be complete if I don't adopt."
“Lately, Penelope’s been feeling very ready for a child,” a pal tells BettyConfidential. “She and Javier do not have any plans to get married but have talked about having a baby together and starting their family.”
Madonna and Penelope are longtime friends, and Pene trusts the Material Mom’s advice. “Penelope has planned on adopting for years and Madonna — who has two biological kids and has adopted two children from Malawi — has been giving her advice lately and even offered to assist in any way she could,” the source says. “If Penelope needs lawyers or references, Madonna will help."

Meanwhile Penelope’s best friend, Salma, who gave birth to daughter Valentina in 2007, had hoped she could convince her pal to get pregnant as well as consider adoption.

What is wrong with her adopting as an unmarried woman? It worked for Diane Keaton, among others.
