Although he is not especially popular in America at the moment, Barack Obama’s presidential win has inspired a musical which opens in Germany this weekend.
“The story starts 20 years ago, when Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago, and leads all the way to the 2008 campaign,” Jimmie Wilson, who portrays Obama, said Wednesday.
Exactly 30 actors, singers and dancers make up “Hope — the Obama Musical Story” that includes love songs by Obama to his wife Michelle, duets with Hillary Clinton, and moments with a grief-stricken John McCain and Sarah Palin.
“I had the idea (for the musical) during the presidential campaign. … It was fascinating and the mood at the time fired my imagination,” writer Randall Hitchins revealed in a news release. “All the people were hoping for a change for a better life and there was such a great, collective emotion.”
