Sometimes it’s not easy being a model. You have to try to hide your goosebumps while wearing a swimsuit and posing on an icy cold beach, or wear fur even when your personal beliefs are crying out in protest.

Tennis champ Andy Roddick’s wife, Brooklyn Decker, who hosted a benefit for the ASPCA in Manhattan last Thursday, tells BettyConfidential in an exclusive interview that wearing fur was a problem she battled with when she began modeling.

“Look, I've had to wear fur on photo shoots before,” she admits. “Up until recently I was forced to wear it because I was a new model and I had to do what I was told. But I don't wear fur in shoots anymore! To each his or her own but I personally choose to not wear fur.”

Brooklyn, who married Andy in April, is an animal lover and admits that if she wasn’t a model, she would have become a veterinarian. “Growing up that’s what I wanted to do,” she said. “As a child, I had two beagle bassets, one miniature beagle and a lab mix — they were all rescue dogs. And now we have a bulldog.”

As for her future ambitions, Brooklyn (who recently did a shoot for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue) sees a way to combine her husband’s career with hers as she looks to get more involved in sportscasting. “I love sports,” the 22-year-old says. “I do a monthly broadcast on The Dan Patrick Show on DirecTV and that’s as much as I’m dipping into sportscasting now, but I can see more in the future.”
