There's been drama galore on The Real Housewives of New York City this season, with Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin's friendship fallout and Ramona Singer's uncensored commentary on the rest of the Housewives. They sure could use a party gal to lighten things up.

Enter Sonja Morgan! The statuesque blonde has been a socialite staple since her days when she just went by her first name, wrangling celebrities and other high-profilers for restaurant openings and hosting headline-making parties. "I had drama at my parties all the time. I had older gentlemen go out on stretchers," Sonja confesses to BettyConfidential.

The 45-year-old single mom, who was married to JP Morgan heir John Adams Morgan until the couple split in 2006, makes her entrance on Thursday's episode and gets to experience the firestorm brewing between the existing Housewives within minutes.

Sonja tells us she didn't join the show to get down with that scene. "I wanted to know where are the hors d'oeuvres? Where's the party? Where are the cute guys," she declares with a laugh.

Yep, sounds like our kind of girl.

How did you get involved with the show this season?
They actually came to me early on with the other girls, when it was going to be called Manhattan Moms, and I just wasn't ready. I was separating from my husband and my daughter was much younger. I just didn't know what to expect in my own life, let alone put it out there for all the viewers. Over time I saw the show was really evolving and doing well, so I went to them on my own and said are you guys still interested? They sent camera people the next day to put me on video again.

You've said you're the straw that stirs the drink.
That quote was from John Mariani, the restaurant critic. Back when I was restaurant consulting, I would get retainers to bring celebrities to different restaurants and to critique the place. When I would walk in with a group, he would say she's the straw that stirs the drink and it stuck.

How will you stir things up this season on the show?
Tonight, it starts with Jill's Kodak event, and she's their spokesperson. I come in and I witness Ramona telling Kelly Bensimon she has no brains and no patience to talk with her, and then she gives Jill her opinion of Kodak. I was just mystified the first day, thinking these girls are nuts and what have I gotten myself into?
