Everything old is new again for Lindsay Lohan. The star has reconciled with her girlfriend, Sam Ronson and her father, Michael Lohan. Lindsay and Sam have both moved into new houses in Los Angeles and (despite the occasional declaration of love on Twitter are trying to keep their relationship a little quieter this time around.

A friend of Lindsay’s tells me, “Lindsay never fell out of love with Sam. She is a mostly good influence on Lindsay and helps her stay healthy. When they are happy, Lindsay is in a good place. And they are happy now. Sam is working a lot, so she and Lindsay spend a couple of days together each week and talk on the phone. Sadly, the death of their friend DJ AM brought them even closer. They loved him very much and suffered his loss together.”

And after more than three years of estrangement, Lindsay is finally on speaking terms with her father, Michael, again. When her house was recently broken into, her dad was the first person Lindsay called and they’ve become so close that Michael even did an about-face on his opinion of her relationship with Sam, and spoke out in favor of the couple.

“Lindsay’s been talking to her dad a lot this summer,” the pal says. “She needed a fatherly influence in her life again and he seems to be trying very hard to be kind. Michael has used Lindsay’s name and fame in the past, but this time around he insists he wants to be a loving part of Lindsay’s life. As a result, Michael has been meeting Lindsay for dinners and seeing his younger children, Cody and Ali. Lindsay’s family is more whole than it’s been in many years.”
