Talk about a Cinderella story. Lauren Luke was a young single mom trapped in a dead-end job when she decided to turn her life around and build a career around her true love: makeup. A stint selling beauty products on eBay prompted her to create online makeup application tutorials for her clients and before you can say “concealer,” the friendly Brit was a YouTube superstar.

Now, the down-to-earth beauty expert says she’s “living somebody else’s life” — a life that includes her own cosmetics line — Lauren By Lauren Luke, sold exclusively at Sephora stores, Sephora.com and bylaurenluke.com — a weekly column in London’s Guardian newspaper, and a book, Lauren Luke Looks: 25 Celebrity and Everyday Makeup Tutorials ($22, Fireside Books) which is due out in March. She even has a Nintendo DS virtual makeover game, which sadly is only available in the UK (hint, hint, Nintendo!).
