While some thought that Lauren Conrad’s debut novel L.A. Candy would end up in the $5 bin at Borders, it has actually done so well for itself that Temple Hill Entertainment wants to turn it into a movie.

According to Variety the corporation has already obtained the screen rights to the story about a 19-year-old girl named Jane Roberts who relocates to Hollywood in order to find fame as a reality star (sound familiar?).

The book has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 14 weeks since its June release, which has naturally encouraged Conrad to penn two more novels in the series.

"Lauren, who became an icon in that reality show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion that was separate and apart from the book," Marty Bowen, producer of Temple Hill, told Usmagazine.com."We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn't at all what I'd planned for myself."
