CNN was asking for trouble when the network invited self-proclaimed D-list comedienne Kathy Griffin to their live New Year’s Eve bash with Anderson Cooper, and it seems they got more than they could handle.

According to PopEater, Kathy Griffin is now banned from CNN’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast. Among jokes about sex and drugs, Kathy used a choice F-word to joke about Balloon Boy Falcon Heene’s name.

“She was a total embarrassment to the network that calls themselves ‘The Most Trusted Name in News,’” a CNN source told PopEater. “Even Anderson (Cooper, her co-host) thinks it's time to say goodbye to Kathy.”

In addition, the show’s ratings fell far behind more established vehicles like Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

CNN’s reps claim that they haven’t made final decisions about next year’s live broadcast, but it seems Kathy Griffin has some new material for her standup routine.
